Ah the teenage years; that time in your development when your hormones are out of control, your skin is spotty and greasy and you are trying to win the approval of your classmates (even if you hate them , you care what they think of you). Why people claim that this is the best time if your life, I will never know. If you were popular, well adjusted and found school a breeze, this will likely be lost on you. If you were more awkward, nerdy, or just felt out of place this will probably ring true for you. In case the set up was not apparent, I was the latter during my school years. When I hit my mid to late teens this is when my angst was taking a more concise form, in music I was finding solace in Hole, Nirvana, Babes in Toyland and other similar bands.
When you are a young woman, there are certain obligatory books that if you are feeling a bit lost or a misfit. These are the ones that if you are/were one such person you would almost certainly have read and loved.
