Atlast, my handbag version of the White Wale has been captured. For too long; I have pondered and wondered and obsessed. Who was the designer of Dita Von Teese’s mystery black bag (see bottom images). A chic compact bag, living up to my ideals of arm candy. But no one ever gave the name of the bag’s maker. A peculiar turn since if it were any other vaguely famous person has everything branded for the public. Admittedly, only a bag lady like me would give a monkeys what bag Von Teese uses. Now I believe I have solved the mystery. The Smythson Antonia Bag.
Smythson is most famous for their luxury stationary and leather accessories. Some may dismiss writing tools as outdated, personally I feel that hand written notes and diaries will always have a place. Not everyone wishes to rely on their devices. Still I digress. The Antonia Bag suits the classic style that Smythson has cultivated. A chic and compact throwback. With a leather top handle and finish of fine leather. Gold tone clasp with matching zip closure on the front of the bag. Antonia is split into three separate compartments all with satin lining. While only one section is secured, there is a detachable shoulder strap. So there is some flexibility for the user. For the price, I estimate £800. For such a lofty amount, one could argue that Antonia is not so usable. The size is not so terrible of a day out and you don’t carry so much. If however you are like many people, you simply need more room. This may not bag.
